for myself, when someone corrects somebody on what they "meant" to say, it means that they got the question right in the first place, so there's nothing to correct if not for the sake of being polemic.

IDE or text editor, OP wants to know where you write the lines of of code that compose your programs.

I don't think I was trying to correct anyone. I just find it confusing that the question OP is asking is phrased two different ways, that would each illicit a different response from me.

"what's your primary editor/IDE?" vs "what do HNers use as their primary text editor?"
