Fun food for thought: NCSA Mosaic started in 1992, and ended in 1997. Netscape 4.0, the last user of this engine, stopped development in 1998. Gecko, the core of Mozilla, started in 1998, and is still in development 16 years later. So, the engine that Spolsky was saying was a mistake has now been in use for twice as long as the engine it was replacing. |
