CoinMKT's the best if you want to trade BTC and additional alts (or if you're based in the US, which I am). Their UI is also the most intuitive.

I use Bitfinex to short.

Kraken trades XRP so that's a non-starter for me.

Gox and BTC-E aren't safe or reliable.

Is there a specific reason you use Bitfinex to short?

I'm also based in the US and am relatively new to Crypto exchange trading.
