I recall many a tech conference when I got into a pickle due to asking for the 'BDSM' when I meant the 'BDFL'...

Or rather - no I don't - what are you talking about?

A lost battle I'm afraid. Acronym in common usage now means both pronounceable (NASA, SCUBA) and spelled-out (NSA, MPAA).

You gotta let these things go, sometimes.
