This really struck me: "Preventing burnout is part of your job. Staying well rested is part of your job". Many would rather consider optimizing one's productivity as being part of the job, usually by introducing new self management techniques, faster typing, etc (thinking of the lifehacker variety). However all these gains would be obliterated by a single burn out (think of it as a Black Swan event). Staying well rested comes not only first, but will also increase your productivity when measured over a longer period. |
