I'm actively trying not to spend too much time reading other people's opinions on the internet these days, it's such a time sink and you do come away with such a negative opinion of the world. But I'll go through the comments if it's a subject I'm interested in and the comments are constructive or add to the original link. Often I've noticed a pattern where the largest discussions start with a comment along the lines of "This article is wrong because ..." and the reply "<quote from above comment> No, it's not because ...". That's a sign to just close the tab. I have Greasemonkey and the "Hacker News collapsible comments" script installed: http://userscripts.org/scripts/show/138037 I do recommend that for an improved HN procrastinating experience. |
