It's 400KB of minified Javascript. Compare with some other large-ish libraries:

Angular: 97KB jQuery: 90KB jQueryUI: 87KB

It takes a while to load and compile.

To be truly fair, you need to compare this against ext-js which is ~700KB

Also jQuery is included in UI5.
