I don't buy it. If it was a real recession rather than a chronic shortage in marketable skills, some of these millennials wouldn't have mommies and daddies who could afford to keep them around. My dad grew up in the Depression and somehow managed to support himself from manual labor from the age of 14. Show me an unemployed hipster 20-something willing to do day labor but unable to find any. You can't find one. Maybe this "Great Recession" is an effect, and not a cause, of the fact that white Americans are increasingly too decadent to work for a fucking living. |
