What version of FireFox are you using? I'm using FF24 and the sliders and date picker work as expected. Can you provide steps for reproducing?

I'm using FF24. When turning off box shadow or opacity the handles show fine.

I have a feeling it could be a rendering issue with the GPU?

Yep. I just switched off GPU acceleration restarted FF and it now renders fine.
