It does update automatically, however Bitcoin prices change pretty slowly, so it's not uncommon for the price to stay the same for awhile.

Bitcoin price doesn't really change slowly if you're following it live at the exchanges. You should try one of the above links. You'll see the price change every second at least even at the slowest times of the day.
