If we did equalize everything, then the result would be random luck, which is also unfairm - sort of like how genetics are random luck.

Why don't we just change the rules so everyone wins?

The article is about fairness in terms of equality of opportunity, not equality of outcome. It's not luck if one identical twin trains more than the other and thus can run faster.
