In the case of many consumers and Walmart, the consumer doesn't have the money to pay for the alternative. It's the only affordable market in their area. In the case of Goldman Sachs, consumers are not involved, the company has so much power, no one in government dares to strongly enforce the laws, short of a slap on the wrist. In a utopian "ethical" world, GS would have been dead in the 1930s... |
