Coupled with solar panels for charging, this has some potential for saving the environment. Though trolley buses have been running on electric power drawn from overhead cables, this is superior in that it can be used outside of predetermined routes and thus can be applied for use with all sorts of EVs. High upfront cost to lay out such infrastructure on large scale notwithstanding, this kind of technology in some distant future is the only way I can think of widespread use of EVs can become practical short of a miracle hyper capacity light battery. Just wish there was some article somewhere with more details.

This is pretty cool, but honestly, what Tesla has already achieved with 300+ mile range is perfectly sufficient for day to day driving.

My last 3 cars had ranges of between 350-400 miles on normal gas. What made them better for long trips is the number of refueling stations available. As the number of EV stations with rapid charging systems increases, 300 mile range will be plenty.
