I'd argue that the OpenEZ/OpenCanard project was the first... sadly it appears to be gone (the website, anyways). Note: This was based on the LongEZ, originally designed by Burt Rutan... a pioneer in homebuilt/plansbuilt aircraft (and the winner of the Ansari X-Prize). |
