I've always wondered people like using a Gem. It's better for me to just write in a bootstrap.css file in my assets folder and add it to the application.css tree.

Why add another point of failure on your site?

I've been using https://github.com/anjlab/bootstrap-rails for http://www.photoficient.com (https://github.com/frabrunelle/photoficient).

I would definitely recommend this gem. Yury, the maintainer, updates it pretty much every day.
