To extrapolate form the rest of his post, I think he phrased that part poorly. I think he really meant to advise not to revel in merely being a participant in a startup, as if that should provide you with satisfaction in and of itself. If you're in the startup world and have chosen your position well enough to be enjoying the journey, I don't think you're the target audience. He's really targeting the people who might become entrepreneurial martyrs.
