Dennis Ritchie demonstrated the social value of tooling beyond all doubt. The Life Sciences hasn't had its Dennis Richie moment yet and it is a reason why cancer therapy hasn't advanced as far it could. Life sciences is in a crisis where a lab at Amgen with the best equipment money can buy could only replicate 11% of the results in 53 Nature published cancer papers. The Life Sciences desperately needs computer scientists to learn their workflow and build the tooling for better more replicable science. |
