Ask HN: When should I read HN?
3 points by ian_lotinsky 4786 days ago
I'm trying to get into the habit of batching my nerd reading (HN and reddit.com/r/programming). I want to be efficient, but I don't want to miss-out on important information. Has anyone analyzed submission popularity trending over time on HN to recommend a reading interval?

If you want to be truly efficient, read it on your own time through RSS. Here is a link to RSS feeds sorted out by points or the front page stories.

Hope this helps!

No matter what time you choose you won't miss out much. If it's "important" it'll still be on the front page 24 hours later, and even if it isn't you'll hopefully hear about it through other channels.
I wrote a webapp so that I can read it on my phone, and a browser. You can filter top 10 stories of the day/week, ask/show hn stories.

This is very nice. Thanks for making this.
