Hehe, I have a recent relevant experience with this topic: I just finished a simple gift certificate purchase page[1] for a client where I attempted to cut out all unnecessary details; the client's immediate response? "Looks good, but can we add some more fields like name, address, and security code to make it look more 'official'". Edit: I don't necessarily disagree with their intuition; I think some consumers might actually be suspicious of a sparse payment form but I don't have any hard data.
