While there are definitely benefits to using a VPN, they do not provide anonymity. They provide privacy, and it is not the same thing. "No one is going to go to jail for you". If a VPN provider is legally required to log your activity or face jail time, guess what? you're getting logged! To assume otherwise is just asking for trouble.
