It is one of the most active eco-system out there, and gems are a breeze to install. Ruby itself is quite flexible and easy to use although it does have quirks. But yes, ruby is hellishly slow. I have not enough experience to speak about the legacy systems, though it would interest me to know about that. You do hear a lot of stories about switching from Ruby to Scala/Java/Clojure. |
