GP has a point, though: if you got a CS degree without understanding this stuff, your CS department failed you. Still, it is nice to review, and as you say, good for those who don't know.

My point was that not everyone - not even everyone on HN - has a CS degree. I don't have one, but I still found the OP interesting.

His comment made me feel like maybe he thought I should feel bad for not knowing the information already.
