As someone who has used Celsius all my life, I actually kinda think they have a point here - where I live temperatures range from -10 to 39 in Celsius, and our home thermostats have 0.5 degree increments. Had we used Fahrenheit it would be a more human-friendly and compact-display-friendly 11-99 with little need for the fractional part. -10.5 = 5 characters
