The tone of this article feels like one of gloating and rejoicing that the cocaine traffickers were not deterred. Do we really hate Pete Hegseth so much that we want to see the criminals win?

Yes.

Cocaine is a problem. We should deal with it much, much better than we are.

But it's nowhere near as big a problem as the complete disintegration of our government. We simply cannot allow the government to kill people on a whim.

As bad as drugs are, they are nothing compared to a lawless government. There is one last protection short of violence: an election that puts some kind of check on the existing administration.

It may already be too late for that. The present administration has engaged in numerous attempts to swing the election their way. Only an overwhelming turnout against them has any chance of overcoming that.

So yeah, we really do hate Pete Hegseth that much. It is only by demonstrating that he can't even achieve his own goals by his literally murderous means that we stand any hope of preserving the rule of law.
