The needle grid reminded me of dot-matrix printers which then brought me back to hours spent with PrintShop. The similar resolution and size of this device and PrintShop graphics tickled me with retro-future visions of people sitting at an Apple II picking out tattoo designs to be printed on themselves.

Got it. I guess there is a whole subgenre of 8-bit pixel art tattoos as well.
