I've been to many of those, in Toronto. You'd be surprised how good they are, I was cynical about them and after a couple, they make you believe in civic organization. The people there are phenomenal, even from the "meritocratic"[1] point of view, educated, hands-on, engaged exposing things that are needed around them.

The guy couldn't be more wrong if he tried, the issue is that he's not even trying to be right. He's an immigrant as well. Classic story, left-leaning when he was poor, then money "changes them"; fortunately he's just some rando venting out on Twitter, but imagine if this person had a little bit of military or political power.
