As usual, people will buy the iPhone cause it's the iPhone. I don't think Samsung will be stealing any customers as such.

The Samsung Galaxy S (the top range) sells between 25 to 35 million units per year.

Sure, it's not iPhones number, which are around 8 to 9 times higher but Samsung has to compete in a huge Android ecosystem, whereas the iOS one has only one offering series per year.

The Galaxy S has always been a very solid product line.

That was not their claim. Those with iPhones will continue to buy iPhones while most Galaxy users have always been Android users.
Many people stop using the iphone and viceversa.

I had one from work. Sucks more than Android.

I think both ecosystems most often have people switching when the other side has something new. I suspect this foldable is coming in under the expected price of the new iPhone fold and is there to make sure people have a flagship-priced option if they get foldable mania. Very few of these products are trying to steal people away (the rare exceptions might be the previous gen high-end foldable phones that are android-only so far).
