Adoption was basically dead long before Google pulled the plug, which says more about the incentives than the tech itself.

Agreed. so do you think unless there are incentives for the users there just really isn't any true demand for privacy or data sovereignty? Or are users just so used to the status quo being there is no other option and giving up their data is just how it works?
