I guess so, but nowadays it seems like technical knowledge might be less relevant in the future. It's not just the scale of the work or adding new skills to the (super)skillset, but the skillset itself which will be different. Having ideas might be more relevant than having the technical ability to implement them.

my question is, I think, what will happen to cultures based around having technical (mainly programming apparently) skills?

But on the other hand, perhaps people having these abilities is just a by-product of them wanting to implement their ideas. I'm really not sure.
