No, they are using long optical cables attached to drones. The battlefield looks like a giant spider web afterwards.

Fiber optic drones were last year's weapon of choice, this year it is drones with autonomous terminal phase. This happened because the AI data center build-out increased demand for fiber optics, driving up the price to less affordable levels. Autonomous terminal phase is also more effective; ~80% mission success compared to ~30% for fiber optic drone.

Fiber optic drones are real but the fully autonomous drones others are describing are also real (but less publicized due to the bad PR around killbots)
