But who's talking about a collapse? Not OP. They say they are in an existential crisis, but not what it is, other than a vague "machines are getting smarter". They never describe what it is they're supposedly right or wrong about.

Ah, yes, he does seem to belabor the existential crisis more than that cause.

I think that is the part where he talks about "do I still have economic value?", and more generally, is everyone in this ever-receding pocket where they will have no economic value.
