Why would anyone spend $150k on a car that sells for $40k elsewhere? You're not getting $90k more car. Not that I necessarily want to spend the extra markup for a luxury car but even for the major luxury brands, 85% of the sticker price is the cost of building that car.

You do it everyday.

My friend was shocked that “ special edition” (black or blue or whatever label) Johnny walker bottles in South Africa are 1/3 the price compared to the US.

There are hundreds of examples.

Things are not priced at what they cost to make or deliver, they’re priced at what people are willing to pay.

Things are also priced differently depending on if they are produced nearby or shipped across the world and have to pass tolls and taxes. This shouldn’t be surprising to anyone
