I guess getting H-1Bs with relatively equal compensation (but maybe worse work habits) is still a lot better than getting jobs offshored to somewhere that has 1/3 of the costs.

That answer does not make sense. Why would companies offshore if not having access to immigrant labour receiving the same pay as US labour?
