I've been interested in ancient Roman and Greek texts of late, and although I can't imagine dedicating myself to learning an ancient language when there are so many living languages to learn, I do find them very cool. Just yesterday I just came across this reading of the Iliad in the original Homeric Greek: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=u1KkZH6hWyU It's amazing that we have texts from 8 centuries BC, and also that the Hellenic identity and culture has survived such a long time. |
