Very little of lifestyle products is about need. Folks will open their wallets for some combination of personal wants, exclusivity (or the illusion of it), or even something as simple as a coffee table discussion piece.

These sorts of "collectible clones" are pretty popular at the moment. A big part of it is nostalgia.

Nostalgia and also specifically catering to people who are affluent enough now to afford things they couldn't afford as kids or teens.
Again though, it’s for people who want a personality-free expensive Acorn Archimedes running Linux, or a very very expensive Raspberry Pi 500 with more horsepower but not enough actual horsepower to do anything useful. No idea who those people are or if there are more than a few dozen of them out there.
