I mean, I'm not surprised. If you have an easy way to get 'information' about any topic, then you're going to be a lot more confident that you know everything you need to. I suspect just having the internet and Wikipedia available had a similar effect in the past, just on a smaller and less dangerous scale.

Having to stop, realise you don't know and need to put work into looking up the answer probably does a lot to moderate overconfidence.
