Related: the reverse Fermi Paradox. Essentially, we've been humans for about 200,000 years. But only in the last 5,000ish years have we done the whole civilization thing. Why? Climate has a lot to do with it, we know that, but about 195,000 years is a lot of time too. Quite the mystery. |
