This is huge! I hope hobbyist boards start to adopt this as a standard firmware. Being able to buy a board and immediately boot from a USB flash drive (rather than having to chain-boot from notoriously-flaky SD cards) would be a big improvement. I'd also like to get some analog of UEFI+ACPI+PCIE+XHCI on RISC-V at some point. We can probably pick bits and pieces from the RISC-V Server Platform. |
