Reviewers were nice to it because they knew it was DOA.

It did have some good sides but it was in most ways worse than comparable iPhones and androids.

It was absolutely not. It easily rivaled (and in many ways surpassed) the contemporary iPhones and was so far ahead of Androids it wasn’t even funny. It was such a fascinating combination of ahead-of-its-time touch UI/UX and power user friendliness.
