Are we, really? Which mass extinction events would those be, and in what way do "we" trigger them in the name of improving things? To me it sounds like you've been exposed to a bit too much agit-prop that the discovery of a potential natural therapeutic (not manipulated, just regular old bacteria) against tumours evokes such a response.
