It makes 100% sense for a Mexican commute, or in other parts of South America.

EVs have displaced ICE cars in Uruguay, and we usually are ahead of the trends, so I expect that to be the case in Europe and other places in coming years.

Both of these other cars are capable of driving at highway speeds, even if only barely in the Pony's case. The Olinia Uno is limited to 50km/h, and my understanding (I've had trouble finding clear details, although my Spanish isn't great) is that it's also going to lack safety features that a faster car would be required to have.
