Uranium mining nowadays is pretty environmentally friendly. More than half of global production is in situ mining. Nuclear also requires least amount of mining per kwh vs alternatives https://ourworldindata.org/low-carbon-technologies-need-far-...

Yes. I was born and live close to a site where Uranium was extensively mined and cannot confirm clean nor safe.
