I knew lots of people making good money doing gig work.

This ended when the Democrats decided that gig workers deserved full-time benefits and ridiculous wages.

It cut the overall workers by a very large amount (which was predicted by anyone that put a few minutes of thought into it) and all of the people I know can't make money anymore.

I did gig work before the wage requirements went into effect and I think you're overly reliant on your anecdote for validation of your personal politics.
