> If the critics don’t respond to facts or data

The problem is that the US election system is a fundamentally flawed system, and with pre-existing distrust those "facts and data" might as well be equivalent to a "trust me bro".

My country had a similar voting trutherism cult. They sent goons to a whole bunch of polling stations to "prevent it from being stolen". They observed the whole process - as is everyone's right - and reported the counting results back live to the mothership. The outcome? Exactly the same numbers as the official count.

They got to observe everything and saw nothing weird, and with the way the elections are set up there was zero possibility of missing any kind of fraud. All arguments were trivially countered by a "But your buddy was right there, why didn't he say anything?".

The voting fraud cult died because there was no room left for lies. Properly-secured elections are fundamentally incapable of being stolen. They aren't secure because you can't find evidence of fraud, but because fraud is impossible.

The US has poll watchers too and that didn’t stop them from creating more conspiracy theories.

MAGA says that the budget would be 100% balanced if illegal immigrants stopped getting government benefits. This is so obviously wrong based on information plainly available to everybody. There is nothing you can do to stop this.

Just poll watchers isn't enough. You also have to get rid of the extremely sketchy mail-in voting process, get rid of impossible-to-verify electronic voting machines, and automatically register everyone to vote and make sure they have a voter id. Like I said: make the voting process so painfully simple that fraud is literally unimaginable.

While you're at it: you should probably also get rid of the whole structure of first-past-the-post and winner-takes-all systems. The fact that it is even possible to get full power over a country with just 23% of the vote is just embarrassing.

You’re missing the point: These poll watchers made things up about what they saw, kicking off a media circus – which would’ve happened even if the system was different, because it is distinct from reality. The one at fault is the media, not the system.

We also had some recounts in the US, and they found the same results as the original election… but that didn’t stop the conspiracism, either. Because it is impervious to reality.

Ah. And nobody bothered to ask them for the video footage? Because if they saw weird stuff, surely they would've recorded it with their smartphones?
Which country ?
