It's crazy that an application should have to test memory. It should simply be handled by the HW and OS. e.g. Some details about how Sun/Solaris deal with memory errors: http://learningsolaris.com/docs/DRAM_errors.pdf Note the section on DRAM scrubbing, which I was reminded of from the original article's suggestion on having the kernel scan for memory errors. (I remember when Sun implemented scrubbing, I believe in response to a manufacturing issue that compromised the reliability of some DIMMs.) |
