The SaaSpocalypse is upon us. When the model maker also vertically integrates into the use cases as well, I'm not sure what's left, besides maybe banding together to make collectively owned open weight models in order to compete.

It's an extreme example of not building on someone else's platform only now the platform is all codebases ever existing...

Will OpenAI with dozens of “verticals” be as good as a vertical focused SaaS?

They can ship a CRM/iPaaS/tables, but will they be better than Salesforce/Zapier/Airtable?

I don’t think so, I think it’ll just end up as bloat.

When the AI can generate whatever UI you want, that basically obviates the need for dedicated SaaS which essentially just wrap the AI APIs anyway.
