This isn't just swapping like-for-like with stock music, it's a pervasive form of Stalinist Revisionism - with certains edits and scenes altered or completely removed when they relied on the track in question.

The logical end-game being the relegation of musical backing in TV to AI generated muzak and genre 'sound-a-likes', like we've already seen in the lowest echelons of the advertisement and backing-track industry.
