I used to collect old hardware and try to install NetBSD/OpenBSD on them. For me, a lot of the fun was the "challenge accepted" aspect. Getting them to boot and work on some weird and obsolete machines felt like winning a small battle. |

Bringing up new software on old hardware is kind of like learning how assembly language works while the “why not use a Pi” approach is more like writing it in Python.
They both have their place but, to me, the “I will never understand” crowd is missing out.
