Yeah, we do ask for forgiveness for our sins during prayer too, but not in casual conversation. If you do that where I'm from everyone will look at you like you're some weirdo. And pretty much everyone's an orthodox christian there.

I know that about the laity. But no matter the country you’ll see language like this used in letters and writings by those serving in or discerning non-lay/ordained vocations (I would imagine).
