Alas, I read your comment only now that Youtube is shoring up its gatekeeping once again and they require signing up for a Google account to "prove" I'm not a bot :/

try yt-dlp, it apparently has some workarounds. when i get blocked in the browser, yt-dlp usually still works unless the video requires age verification or is geoblocked.
